Trucking and Transportation Law

Kerrick Bachert attorneys have successfully managed, resolved, and defended claims and lawsuits against trucking companies and truck drivers.  We handle complex litigation in defense of trucking companies in a wide array of areas, including catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims, commercial litigation, freight and property claims, regulatory compliance, and labor and employment.

Our attorneys also assist motor carriers and other transportation clients with compliance to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, and other applicable federal and state laws.  Our attorneys realize the importance of properly preparing and finalizing documentation to meet our clients’ business and/or operating needs in accordance with state and federal laws.  We negotiate, draft, and review contracts, including but not limited to transportation agreements between motor carriers, shippers, freight forwarders, and 3PLs; lease agreements; carrier policies and procedures; independent contractor agreements; and the plethora of other transportation and logistics contracts in the industry, to ensure that our clients’ rights are protected and best interests are reflected in every transaction.

Utilizing our team’s depth of experienced attorneys, we can also assist transportation clients with business formation and structure to ensure that our clients’ businesses operate in compliance with the law and are tailored to the needs of each individual business and the people who make up the business.  Our attorneys can assist with formation agreements, buy-sell agreements, sale transactions, copyright and trademark issues, and even planning for the future in order to pass the business on to future generations.

Kerrick Bachert attorneys are members of trucking industry organizations, including the Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA) and Conference of Freight Counsel.  Our attorneys can provide guidance and education to our trucking and insurance clients through training and educational seminars.
