James D. Harris, Jr. Receives 2019 Kentucky Defense Counsel Diplomat Award

On Behalf of | Nov 15, 2019 | KB News

The KDC Diplomat award is given to a senior member of the Kentucky Defense Counsel, Inc. who has made significant contributions to KDC or to the defense bar. To be eligible for this award, the recipient must be a member of KDC and sixty-five (65) years of age or older.

Jim began practicing in Alabama in 1967. He moved to Kentucky in 1983 and began practicing with the firm of Harlin Parker & Rudloff.  Jim then worked for the firm of Wyatt Tarrant & Combs in its Bowling Green location from 2001 to 2009 again focusing on defense cases. Jim joined our firm in 2009 and has continued to do defense work on a regular basis up until a couple of years ago when he attempted to slow down. Jim is still a valuable part of our firm in that he discusses the issues with all attorneys in our firm and takes particular time to work with our young associates and new hires with regard to how to properly prepare for and defend each case. Jim is always the ultimate gentleman and, on numerous occasions, has been described as truly a “southern gentleman.”

Jim served on the Board of Kentucky Defense Counsel and was also on the Kentucky Board of Governors in 2006 and 2012. Jim has always taken pride in the fact that he is a lawyer, that he has represented and protected the rights of many insurance companies and defendants in the appropriate manner throughout his 40+ year career. We are very proud to have Jim as a member of our firm and congratulate him on this award.

Unfortunately, Jim was unable to accept this award in person. It was accepted in his absence by Tom Kerrick.
