Today, the Supreme Court of Kentucky issued Administrative Order 2020-16 adopting heightened social-distancing measures for the Kentucky judicial system in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The order replaces in its entirety the previous Administrative Order 2020-13, dated March 26, 2020. The new order provides for the following measures to be implemented through May 1, 2020:
1. All participants to judicial proceedings, including parties and attorneys, must be allowed to do so remotely;
2. All Kentucky judicial facilities will be closed to in-person services effective April 1, 2020, with limited exceptions. Signage will be posted at all public entry points notifying individuals of the restrictions.
3. Eviction filings will not be accepted by the circuit court clerk until 30 days after the order expires pursuant to federal and state prohibitions on evictions and public health and safety concerns.
4. Expiration date for all driver’s licenses has been extended for 90 days. Accordingly, driver’s license services are suspended until further notice.
